Chinese New Year
Introduction:
Do you know what Chinese New Year is? Chinese New Year is a special festival held in China and around the world celebrated with family. It’s held for 15 days. This includes: Traditions, Family Gatherings, Feasts and a whole lot more. This celebration usually falls between January 21st and February 20th depending on the lunar new year calendar.

There are many traditions in China. These are some of the traditions held in the Chinese New Year: Spring Cleaning (to sweep away bad luck and make room for positive energy). Houses are decorated with red lanterns, banners, and paper cuttings for good fortune. People dress in red clothing, red is believed to be a lucky colour.
Paragraph 2:
During the festival, families share meals and bring their special or favourite food. On the 13th day, people eat vegetarian food to rest their stomachs. They also scare away the bad and evil spirits by using firecrackers. Children receive red envelopes (known as “hongbao”) filled with money for good luck.

At the end of the festival there are heaps of different cool things. Here is one example: Dragon dances (to guide spirits to the right place). Dragon and Lion dances symbolise strength and wealth.
