Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year

Introduction:

Do you know what Chinese New Year is? Chinese New Year is a  special festival held in China and around the world celebrated with family. It’s held for 15 days. This includes: Traditions, Family Gatherings, Feasts and a whole lot more. This celebration usually falls between January 21st and February 20th depending on the lunar new year calendar.

Paragraph 1:

There are many traditions in China. These are some of the traditions held in the Chinese New Year: Spring Cleaning (to sweep away bad luck and make room for positive energy). Houses are decorated with red lanterns, banners, and paper cuttings for good fortune. People dress in red clothing, red is believed to be a lucky colour.

Paragraph 2:

During the festival, families share meals and bring their special or favourite food. On the 13th day, people eat vegetarian food to rest their stomachs. They also scare away the bad and evil spirits by using firecrackers. Children receive red envelopes (known as “hongbao”) filled with money for good luck.

Paragraph 3:

At the end of the festival there are heaps of different cool things. Here is one example: Dragon dances (to guide spirits to the right place). Dragon and Lion dances symbolise strength and wealth.

Conclusion:

These are important celebrations in Chinese New Year culture. It’s time for family, joy, good luck, happiness, success, and a fresh start for the new year.

Hundertwasser Art

Hundertwasser:

Hundertwasser is an Austrian artist he is very creative and he loves to do a.rt. Hundertwasser real name is actually Friedrich Stowasser

The Process:

First I drew a line 2/3  of the way up from the bottom. Next I drew houses, I drew rectangles then roofs and added windows and doors. After drew lolly pop trees and added swirls to them I also added patterns to the houses and added a river and some grass under the line. Next I used pastels and colour pencils  to outline and fill spaces. Finally I used watercolour to fill in the rest of the space.

Reflection:

Doing this art has made me think made me think about the process of art. There are a lot of steps to create a piece of art like this. I am very proud of my art that I created.
